Create and Maintain Training Items
A training item can be created at the division or company level. Creating a training item is an important first step in assigning training to learners, or keeping training records. Training items can represent on-line training or off-line training.
The minimum permission needed to perform this task is Division Admin or Division Author.
- Select Curriculum > Training Items or Author > Training Items.
- Select New.
- Enter the training item Title, Item Code, and select the training Item Type from the drop-down box.
- If the item type is a DOC, PRC, CBT, HTML-WBT or SCORM, you can directly upload your file by selecting Choose File
- For HTML-WBT courses enter the URL of the course's home screen into the URL: field. It should be in the http:// format.
- For SCORM courses click Choose File and browse to the SCORM package file (.zip). The packaged file size is limited to 16 MB.
- The new training item is added to the selected company and division. For SCORM content, Frontline will unzip the package file in the directory structure set up for the company/division, read the manifest file (SCORM 1.2 XML Schema Definition file) and construct the URL to launch the content for the course. If the manifest file contains mastery score parameter, system will append “PassingScore” parameter and value to the URL.
- If Frontline does not find the manifest file in the uploaded package, it will reject the package with a message “Upload SCORM package failed, cannot find SCORM 1.2 manifest file.”
- If the item type is WBT, you will not have the option to upload your PowerPoint here. Rather, you will need to create a lesson under Author > Lessons.
- This is where our PowerPoint converter is, our system will automatically transfer your slide deck to cells within Frontline's lesson layout.
- Any files browsed to and added via the Choose File button are automatically uploaded to Frontline's shared stored, per site. If the file is in a document management system, the URL can be manually entered using the computer's copy/paste function. The file referenced by the URL must be on a commonly mapped network drive, or a network share. You must also make sure that all your learners have read access to this file.
- Enter the optional fields.
- Select Save.
- If you entered a URL, select Preview button to confirm that the training content will launch properly.
